10 THINGS TO KNOW WHEN BUYING AN AWNING FROM THE AWNING COMPANY
How long have you been in business?
The Awning Company USA was founded in the spring of 2004 by Tim Eippert and Alan Szarek. Our team is comprised of dedicated, trained industry professionals with over 30 years of experience in architectural awing solutions.
What are my awnings manufacturing options? We offer multiple awning options. One of the most common awnings is one produced with a rigid aluminum frame and covered with canvas or vinyl. This option offers various styles of awnings (see below) with 100s of fabrics and paint colors to choose from.
We also offer all metal awnings that can be painted to match almost any color scheme. There are many styles of all metal awnings to choose from such as flat pan, mapes, man door, slat and step down awnings.
Lastly, we offer both motorized and manual retractable awning and screen systems. Motorize retractable awnings and screens are an excellent option that allows you to use a remote or wall switch to operate your unit and it will automatically stop when it is fully extended or retracted.
How long do awnings last? Do you offer a warranty?
When an awning is fabricated using top quality materials and workmanship it should last for several years. With routine cleaning and maintenance an awning can last as long as ten years.
Awnings purchased from The Awning Company come with a 5 year limited warranty on the frame work and a
3 – 10 year warranty on the fabric depending on the type used.
How long does awning manufacturing take?
As with any custom manufactured product, there is a short lead time for quality work to be accomplished. For canvas awnings, this can mean as little as three weeks. Of course this varies depending on the time of the year and it is not unusual for this lead time to run longer, especially in the seasonal climates.
Who will install the awning?
The Awning Company has a team of installation experts that pride themselves on being innovative and continue to remain current in on-site systems and devices meeting the challenges of our dynamic market. We’ll see that your product is delivered and installed to the job specifications.
Do you have insurance? What certifications do you hold?
The Awning Company…… comprehensive liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance to protect you in the event of an accident.
The Awning Company is IFAI Certified (International Fabrics Associated International) as well as a member of PAMA (Professional Awning Manufacturing Association), SGIA (Specialty Graphic Imaging Association) and CSB (Cleveland Small Business).
What kind of maintenance is required?
We recommend cleaning your awnings 4 times per year for optimum protection. This enhances the beauty and durability of your awning and the overall appearance of your property. The Awning Company offers a maintenance program that includes washing and waterproofing of the awning, Our service includes hand cleaning (and sealing) the awning exterior and bottom surfaces to prevent staining, low-pressure cleaning for the inside (fabric, frame, grates and light fixtures) and applying mildew treatments where necessary.
Should you wish to wash the awning yourself, we recommend brushing off loose dirt, hosing down the awning, cleaning using a soft bristle brush, lukewarm water with a mild soap. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry.
What should I do with my awning in the fall and winter seasons?
Although many awnings can withstand snow and wind loads, we recommend taking down your awning during these seasons to preserve it. We offer a seasonal storage program that would include the take down, storage and put up of your awning. Washing and waterproofing can also be provided during storage.
